 As I have mentioned to you, AHEPA HELLAS District 25 now has a total of 14 Chapters, with the recent addition of three new Chapters that were opened in year 2011.

  In October, Solon Chapter HJ-4 was approved and it is domiciled in Halandri, Attica. The Chapter President is Mr. Marinos Dimitriou, a well-known attorney who specializes in international business in Greece & Cypeus.  The Chapter now has 25 members.

 Argonauts Chapter HJ-13 is located in the municipality of Argalasti in the Prefecture of Magnesia.  It was approved in December and it’s President is Mr. Nikos Ntokos, who is very active in local, social and municipal affairs.  The Chapter now numbers 20 members.

 Philippos Chapter HJ-14 is located in Kavala.  It, too, was approved in December and now has over 20 members.  The Chapter’s President is Mr. Dimitrios Tzimas, a well-known attorney in Kavala, with a varied portfolio of clientele.  He is also the legal advisor for one of the biggest Greek banks in Kavala.

We are indeed very proud with the three new Chapters and we expect great things to come from them.  What is also of great significance is that the Brothers are, to the last one, very active in their communities and they are young, mainly in their 30s and 40s.  So, we are building for the future.

 Let’s all of us welcome the new Chapters with open arms and find ways to work with them in joint projects for the benefit of our local societies and for the Good of AHEPA.

Σε Οικογενειακή ατμόσφαιρα πραγματοποιήθηκε η κοπή της Πρωτοχρονιάτικης Βασιλόπιτας του τοπικού τμήματος της Α.H.E.P.A .O Πρόεδρος Ιωάννης Μανέτας αναφέρθηκε στης δράσεις του τμήματος ,αλλά κυρίως επισήμανε ότι τώρα παρά ποτέ  είναι ανάγκη ο καθένας από εμάς να στηρίξει τον συνάνθρωπο του όπου και όπως μπορεί . Ακόμη και η ηθική υποστήριξη σήμερα έχει μεγάλη σημασία  .

Panama, Panama City – The IBAF and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the 39th edition of the IBAF Baseball World Cup announced the groupings for the first round of the event. The 16 team competition was divided into the following groups;

The United States, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Canada, the Netherlands, Puerto Rico, Panama and Greece forming group 1.

Cuba, Korea, Australia, Venezuela, Italy, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Germany forming group 2.

The games were held from October 2nd to 15th, 2011 in Panama city, Aguadulce City, Chitre City and Santiago City.

The official ball of the tournament will be provided by the Mizuno company.

Dear Sisters, Brothers and Friends:

The Karyatides kicked off their fundraising season last Friday evening, November 11 at the St. George Lycabettus Hotel on their magnificent Grand Balcon, overlooking all of Athens.  The evening was both a beautiful and elegant one. 

In attendance was our beloved Mary Filou, PGP who had flown over from New York especially for this evening.  Also in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Nikos Papadopoulos, District Governor of AHEPA Hellas District #25, along with the Chapter Presidents of our Sister Chapter Daughters of Penelope Hesperus, Leto Georgopoulou  and AHEPA Athens Chapter HJ1 President, George Costas,  and their members, Evangelos Rigos, President of the Nemea Committee here in Greece and Mrs. Katie Capsis, President of the Macedonian Women’s Association.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the “Retrospective History of the Karyatides and the Penelopean Day Care Center” and the honoring of our Founder Eleni Tranta who spoke movingly about the early days of the Karyatides and gave her own tribute to the founding members, including Sen. Geo-Karis who initiated the Chapter. 

Mary Filou spoke about her commitment to the Penelopean and to all of the Sisters in Greece.

We are now planning our upcoming Annual Christmas Bazaar – a 60 year tradition – to be held at the Athinais Hotel on December 2 and 3 and many of the Karyatides are very busy working to make it a success – including Mrs. Tranta along with other talented members who every year make homemade marmelades and baklavas and beautiful hand-knit items which are ordered before the bazaar even begins.  Our sponsors continue to be very generous and donate items for sale and we look forward to yet another successful event.

We are planning a Karyatides Christmas luncheon on December 18 here in Athens to celebrate the holidays in Sisterhood and Friendship and then our Annual Pita cutting will be held at the home of our President, Liana Kallierou.  Immediately after the New Year we will begin our plans for our large fundraiser – our Annual Fashion Show and Dinner to be held in May.

 We very much look forward to hosting our Grand President Nicky Stamoulis and our Executive Director, Eleni Skardis during April when the Delegation makes its annual visit.

Please note that any Sister who is planning to be in Athens during the time of any of our planned events will be welcomed in friendship.
