Το Πανεπιστημιακό Νοσοκομείο ΑΧΕΠΑ (από τα αρχικά των λέξεων American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association: Αμερικανικός Ελληνικός Εκπαιδευτικός Προοδευτικός Σύνδεσμος) είναι το δεύτερο μεγαλύτερο νοσοκομείο της Θεσσαλονίκης μετά το Ιπποκράτειο και ένα από τα μεγαλύτερα της Ελλάδας. Συνεργάζεται με το Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης και στεγάζεται στο χώρο της Πανεπιστημιούπολης στο κέντρο της πόλης.
The University Hospital AHEPA (the acronym for American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association: American HellenicEducational Progressive Association) is the second largest hospital in Thessaloniki after the Hippocratic one of the biggest in Greece.Collaborates with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and is housed at the campus in the city center.
The establishment of the Medical School was held in 1942. At the same time, the Greek American Community in USA tries to help the traumatized of Greece by WWII and Greek Civil War. Part of this aid is evident in from the Supreme Convention minutes of meetings of the brotherhood of AHEPA and related to the provision of health services.
The AHEPA at the Congress in Washington D.C. in 1945, in cooperation with the Greek Relief Organization, decided to fund and establish hospitals of 300-400 beds in various cities of Greece and of course, at Thessaloniki. Supporter of the idea of a University Hospital in Thessaloniki, was University Professor Samaras, who is also member of the Organization. This was the reason for the start of history’s Hospital AHEPA which began in 1947.
